About

In 1904, German immigrant Henrietta Gattle began selling imported lace curtains by appointment only in Cincinnati homes. Relishing the rare quality of Henrietta's findings, her customers longed to have the same cherished linens where they spent their summers in Northern Michigan. They encouraged her to follow them North to Petoskey, Michigan, where she opened her first store there in 1919. Only a year later, she and her son, Otto, also opened a Cincinnati location. This was a time when women travelled by rail car and wore gloves and hats. They would purchase their linens and have their chauffeurs pick them up. Times have changed, but the Gattle's name remained synonymous with luxury home linens assembled from around the world. By the 1950's, with the rise of unique tableware for formal entertainment, store locations appeared in Florida and later in North Carolina. Eventually, Otto's son, Tom Gattle Sr. would carry on the family business for many decades, making unique and exclusive luxury linens available from Gattle's brick-and-mortar locations from generation to generation. Gattle's linens have had patrons such as Susan Hayward, Rose Kennedy, and Richard Nixon. It is also known that while visiting the United States, both Pope John and Queen Elizabeth have slept on Gattle's regal sheets. Now located in Naples, Florida and soon to be in Harbor Springs, Michigan (summer of 2019), Gattle's fine-linen stores continue to be a family business whose history of providing the world's finest linens has spanned a century. In addition to our brick and mortar locations, Gattle's is now available online with the same tradition of quality and beauty, making it easy for our customers everywhere to bring home the intricate detail and refined comfort of Gattle's linens, gifts, and sleepwear.
