Women-owned small businesses (WOSBs) are increasing in number, range, diversity and earning power. As women business owners expand their companies, they contribute to the growth of our national economy and defense.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau QuickFacts: Collier County, Florida we have roughly 2,171 women owned businesses right here in Collier County! 

There are many benefits to supporting WOSBs such as the creation of jobs, adding revenue into the economy, and help shaping the way young girls see themselves as they grow and develop into leaders. 

Another awesome thing to note is that our Collier WOSBs are very dynamic in winning federal government contracts!

In 2008 Collier-based WOSBs are reported to have won almost $103,000 in federal Contracts.

“To help level the playing field and boost a significant part of the economy and our community, it’s essential to support women-owned businesses,” said Alicia Farman, president of Leading the Ladies of Southwest Florida. “The easiest way to show support for women-owned businesses is to make it a priority to use them. There is power in the dollar and every cent keeps community members employed and contributing back locally.”

By 2022 Collier-based WOSBs won over $7.3 million in federal contracts. These contracts were mainly from the Federal Bureau of Investigations; Office of the Assistant Secretary for Administration; Bureau of Indian Affairs; and Public Buildings Service.
