Position Summary:

Naples Sailing & Yacht Club is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Controller to oversee the Club’s financial operations. This role is responsible for managing all accounting functions, ensuring regulatory compliance, supporting departmental budgeting, and driving financial strategies that promote fiscal health and sustainability. The Controller will play a critical role in evaluating operating results, providing key financial insights, and maintaining the financial integrity of the Club.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee all financial operations including general accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
• Manage accounts payable/receivable and ensure timely invoice processing, payments, and collections.
• Monitor cash flow and manage banking relationships, reconciliations, and cash reserves.
• Assist in developing annual budgets and financial forecasts in collaboration with department heads.
• Provide financial analysis and recommendations to improve profitability and operational efficiency.
• Ensure full compliance with tax laws and regulatory reporting requirements.
• Supervise, mentor, and evaluate accounting staff to ensure high performance and accuracy.
• Coordinate annual audits and serve as primary contact for external auditors.
• Conduct internal audits and maintain consistent financial record-keeping policies.
• Implement and maintain financial controls to safeguard assets and reduce risk.
• Analyze key financial metrics and trends; make actionable recommendations.
• Collaborate with department managers to align financial goals across the organization.
• Oversee Club insurance policies and employee benefit programs, including 401(k).
• Prepare regular accounting reports for the Bridge and other stakeholders.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience; 2+ years in a managerial role.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and budgeting practices.
• Proficiency with financial software systems (e.g., QuickBooks, Microsoft Dynamics).
• High attention to detail with strong analytical and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication skills; ability to explain financial information clearly to non-financial audiences.
• Experience in private club or hospitality financial management is a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• High integrity and ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

Work Environment:

This is a hands-on leadership position in a private club setting. The Controller will interact with staff, management, members, and outside vendors. The environment is professional, fast-paced, and service-oriented, requiring strong ethics and accountability.
