The Director of Development and Operations is a key leadership role with the primary responsibility to increase Wellfit Girls annual revenue and long-term financial sustainability through strategic development efforts, while also supporting administrative functions and overseeing the day-to-day operations.
Using a strategic fundraising and development strategy, this person will be responsible for all development functions including donor relations, donor management, fundraising events, grant writing and grant management. In addition, the Director of Development and Operations will play a vital cross-function role collaborating with the Board of Directors and executive leadership team to ensure the smooth execution of administrative functions and day-to-day operations to maintain overall efficiency and impact.
As the central driver of development and operations, this role is ideal for someone eager to help build and scale a growing, purpose-driven organization from the inside out.
Key Responsibilities:
Donor Relations and Stewardship: cultivate and maintain strong relationships with donors, foundations, corporate sponsors, and community partners. Implement strategies that ensure continued donor engagement and retention.
Database and Records Management: maintain accurate and up-to-date donor and grant records using Donor Perfect management software. Responsible for submitting all records to bookkeeper to ensure organizations finances are sound. Acknowledge all donor contributions, ensure data integrity and leverage donor insights for strategic planning.
Administrative Support and Operational Management: manage and oversee the day-to-day operations of the organization, including by working in collaboration with the finance and governance committees to, among other things, execute operational and strategic plans for the Organization. Ensure organizational priorities are executed and perform administrative functions that contribute to the overall effectiveness of the organization, including administering Organization funds in accordance with the approved budget; and working collaboratively with the finance committee and executive leadership team.
Strategic Fundraising and Development: create and execute annual fundraising plans with the support of the development committee, including individual giving campaigns, corporate sponsorships, special events, and capital campaigns. Represent the Organization at community activities to enhance the Organization’s outreach and profile within the community, and utilize external presence and relationships to foster existing opportunities on an ongoing basis and to also garner new opportunities for the Organization.
Reporting and Evaluation: prepare regular reports on development progress for the executive leadership team and Board of Directors. Use metrics and data to evaluate and improve fundraising performance. Hire and manage operational staff with guidance from the Board when needed.
Grant Writing and Management: lead the development and submission of compelling grant proposals. Oversee post-award grant management, including reporting, compliance tracking, and relationship maintenance with funders.
QUALIFICATIONS
The Director of Development & Operations will be thoroughly committed to Wellfit Girls’ mission and execute its vision in collaboration with the executive leadership team. This Director must have proven leadership, coaching, and relationship management experience. Other qualifications include:
Advanced degree, with a minimum of a bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of management experience; track record of effectively leading, preferably within the non-profit sector;
Excellence in organizational management and development.
Strong fundraising experience with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders and prospective donor bases;
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent multidisciplinary project skills;
Ability to work effectively in a team environment;
Willingness to have a flexible schedule, ability to work remote and in person; and
Passion, integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven, and self-motivated.
