2026 STAR Gala raises more than $3.8 million, with another $1.2 million pledged just days later
In an extraordinary show of community commitment, STARability Foundation has raised more than $5 million in just a matter of days, marking one of the most successful fundraising moments in the organization’s history.
The milestone began with a record-breaking $3.8 million raised at the sold-out 8th Annual STAR Gala: Where Abilities Shine: Generosity Blooms at The Ritz-Carlton Naples, Tiburón. Following the incredible success of the STAR Gala, a wonderful friend to STARability made a special gift of $1.2 million in support of STARability’s future campus, pushing the total raised to more than $5 million in less than a week.
Reflecting the event’s theme of generosity and growth, the 2026 STAR Gala was co-chaired by longtime supporters and sisters Jenny Haire, Barbie Kellam and Morgan Rodgers. The evening was presented by STOCK Development and supported by more than 50 generous sponsors and underwriters whose leadership helped propel the event to unprecedented success.
The achievement surpasses last year’s gala record of $3.2 million and signals extraordinary momentum for the organization as progress continues on its comprehensive campaign for a regional campus while expanding life-changing enrichment and vocational programming for individuals with autism and intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Nearly 600 guests gathered for the elegant evening, which featured specialty cocktails, dinner, dancing and experiential live and silent auction lots along with memorable performances by the STAR Music Academy and STAR participants.
Meghan E., a participant in STARability’s Trailblazer Academy, STAR Connections and Career Services programs, shared her personal story with the audience. “When I moved to Florida, I honestly felt like there wasn’t much out there for me. So, when I first heard about STARability in 2022, I became a STAR and it turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve ever made,” said Meghan. “All the programs, and the amazing staff who run them, make me feel happy, supported and at peace. STARability is my second home.”
A pivotal moment of the night came during the Fund Our Need, when donors pledged nearly $2.5 million in operational support alone, demonstrating the depth of commitment in STARability’s mission and long-term sustainability.
“This was more than a gala. It was a defining moment for our organization,” said Karen Govern, CEO of STARability Foundation. “To see this level of generosity, not only in the room but continuing in the days that followed, affirms that our community believes in what we are building. We are deeply grateful for every donor, sponsor, volunteer and advocate who is helping us expand opportunities for our STARs.”
The thrilling live auction featured island getaway packages to Keewaydin Island and the Bahamas culminating in dueling bids totaling $110,000 each. Additional top lots included a VIP luxury sports experience, a FIFA World Cup package and a Napa Valley music and wine-filled adventure.
A variety of over 70 extraordinary silent auction items raised well over $100,000 and offered something unique for everyone in dining, shopping, travel and experiences, beauty and wellness, fashion and clothing, sports and more. A highly coveted premiere Notre Dame package raised $26,000.
As part of the inspirational program, STARability presented the Visionary Award to philanthropist and CEO of Mattamy Homes Peter Gilgan. The special award reflects Gilgan’s commitment to uplifting others, serving as a champion for the organization and its participants, and using his voice, influence and leadership to encourage others to believe in what is possible to create a truly inclusive community.
The additional $1.2 million gift pledged days after the gala will directly support the future of STARability and the development of their new five-acre campus on Northbrooke Drive in Naples. Construction began this fall on the Golisano Program Center and will transform the existing 42,000-square-foot building into a state-of-the-art center designed to meet growing demand and serve as a regional model for inclusive services for people with autism and IDD.
For four decades, STARability Foundation has been shining a light on abilities. Formed by a small community of caring parents, STARability has become one of Southwest Florida’s leading nonprofits. Today, the organization is opening a world of possibilities for hundreds of individuals ages 14 and older by offering a variety of inclusive programs focused on vocational training, continuing education, teamwork, social engagement and community involvement. Their compassionate team supports people with disabilities by providing life-transforming opportunities that emphasize teamwork and a connection to the community while strengthening awareness and respect for individual abilities.
