Bank of America awards $15,000 to David Lawrence Centers to support Veterans’ Service Programs

NAPLES, Fla. (June 17, 2024) – David Lawrence Centers for Behavioral Health (DLC), Collier County’s only comprehensive, not-for-profit behavioral health provider, has been awarded a $15,000 grant from Bank of America to support its Veterans’ Services Program.

Funds from the grant will be used to offset the cost of providing lifesaving services to veterans in need of inpatient, outpatient and community-based support. In partnership with Home Base Florida and Wounded Warriors of Collier County, this funding will allow DLC to serve 75 veterans through crisis stabilization, clinical assessments, psychiatric evaluations, inpatient services, outpatient services, individual and group therapy, medication management, clinical supervision and case management.

“This generous grant from Bank of America will help us continue providing hope and support for individuals and families who have sacrificed so much for our community,” said Kimberly Dye, vice president of advancement at DLC. “Our Veterans’ Services Program is designed to build meaningful partnerships between veterans and their families to help them function better at home, in the community, on the job, in educational settings and throughout life.”

Through case management services, veterans also receive peer-to-peer support and access to DLC’s Veteran Peer Access Network, an industry best practice that prioritizes hiring veterans as system navigators to connect other veterans in need to resources that will help.

DLC is one of 15 Southwest Florida nonprofits Bank of America is supporting with economic mobility grants awarded to nonprofits through the year to help tackle society’s biggest challenges. The first round of grants is focused on improving the lives of individuals and families by investing in health and jobs.

Working with David Lawrence Centers to provide local veterans essential resources demonstrates our dedication to driving positive outcomes in Southwest Florida,” said Gerri Moll, president, Bank of America Southwest Florida. “By investing in mental health services for those in need, we are supporting the overall wellbeing of our Southwest Florida community.”

DLC continues to see a growing need for services to support veterans suffering from behavioral health issues, including post-traumatic stress, depression, anxiety and co-occurring substance use challenges that are common among combat veterans returning from deployment. Specialized case managers help veterans identify their goals related to medical, substance-use recovery, mental health, housing and more. In 2023, DLC provided more than 9,100 services to veterans.

For more than 50 years, DLC has been committed to ensuring behavioral health care is available to everyone in need through education, prevention, intervention and treatment. DLC delivers care throughout the community through six distinct centers of operation, including mental health, addiction recovery, emergency services, awareness and prevention, virtual care, and children and young adults.
