California to Cambridge Park: How one homebuyer found her perfect Naples Retreat by London Bay Homes

When Julie Krupa discovered Cambridge Park at Orange Blossom and London Bay Homes’ Cameron estate, she knew everything had aligned perfectly for her to relocate from Southern California to Naples. She loved the intimate size of the neighborhood with only 17 luxury residences, the open floor plan and spaciousness of the home. It was the ideal place she’d been looking for since making the decision several years earlier to purchase a home closer to family and friends in Florida.

“Cambridge Park is exactly what I was looking for,” said Julie. “I was drawn to the concept of an exclusive, private boutique-size community with a collection of beautifully designed homes all on one single street. Cambridge Park is ideally situated in the heart of anything and everything you would ever want and need to experience the perfect Naples lifestyle.”

The move from Southern California to Naples was the first in 25 years for Julie, who’s now retired. She was already familiar with the city and London Bay, having started home hunting in 2019. She had previously visited the builder-developer’s Mediterra community and viewed the showcase homes online and in person. Friends who live in Naples as well as those who visit frequently raved about the area, calling Naples “a great little place, a real gem.” Julie was intrigued when London Bay Homes introduced Cambridge Park, located 10 minutes away from all the area has to offer, including the Gulf.

The size of the three-bedroom, three-and-a-half-bath Cameron, which spans over 3,200 square feet, was comparable to Julie’s California home. She loved the sun-lit spaces of the open floor plan, the spaciousness of the 500-square-foot great room, the large lanai and study, which has floor-to-ceiling windows and provided the ideal spot for a library.

“The Cameron was the perfect choice for me,” Julie said. “The great room is designed with ample room to comfortably move between the kitchen, living and dining areas. The Cameron also has a beautiful large primary suite and two additional bedrooms ideal for guests. The bedrooms are all situated in different corners of the house, providing complete privacy. I thought that was wonderful.”

During her first visit to the homesite, Julie could see London Bay’s vision for the coastal contemporary residence. Planned as a showcase estate, the homebuilder’s award-winning design team had preselected tile, fixtures, cabinetry and other finishes. The next phase of the construction process involved special projects accommodating Julie’s additions, including tile accent walls, custom media built-ins and finishing details.

“Julie added many personal touches and was very involved in the design and building process,” said Katie Marks, client development manager for London Bay Homes. “She was very pleased with the final result.”

“With the help of the talented London Bay Homes team, I was able to add several beautiful custom features to my new home,” said Julie. “At no time was there ever anything that was impossible to add or change. The project management team always found a way to make things happen. It was a wonderful experience, and I can’t imagine working with anyone else. The team brought all my ideas to life and created a beautiful living space for me. I could not be happier.”

Julie and the London Bay Homes team created eye-catching accents in the foyer, including an impressive chandelier, a square inlay in the home’s medium-toned wood flooring and a floor-to-ceiling tile wall that creates a textural pattern. “You can see the chandelier from outside the front door and while sitting in the great room,” said Marks. “The floor is a nice accent right as you walk in the door and the chandelier reflects off the tile and really makes a statement.”

The custom media wall with an electric fireplace in the great room was another request. “The London Bay Homes team chose a beautiful stone tile as the cladding for this addition,” Julie said. “It sets the mood for the entire home.”

The adjoining kitchen features a mix of white-painted and oak-stained cabinetry with flat panel doors for a modern look, according to Marks. The oversized white and silver tile backsplash creates a unique pattern for a subtle statement. The team also customized a wall unit in the library with a built-in Murphy bed for extra guests during the holiday season. The powder room features an offset faucet and vessel sink.

Sliding glass doors open to the 412-square-foot lanai, which spans the length of the great room and overlooks a custom pool. “The view of the pool from the great room makes you feel like you’re at a resort on an island,” noted Marks. “The landscaping complements the rest of the lanai with pops of color and grand palm trees.”

To achieve Julie’s vision of the lanai as an elegant outdoor lounge for “alfresco dining and watching beautiful Naples sunsets,” the team added a media wall with a fireplace and a custom dining island featuring a stunning green quartzite slab on the countertop and a full-height backsplash behind the grill.

“The color really stands out from the palette of the home, which is mostly neutral with warm wood flooring, a mix of white and rift-cut oak cabinetry, and gray, white and beige accents with some black throughout,” said Marks. “The finish of lighting fixtures are all matched to the plumbing and hardware in each room and range from chrome, brushed nickel, brass and black.”

Since moving to Cambridge Park earlier this year, Julie has made Naples and the neighborhood her primary residence – the place she now happily calls home, thanks to London Bay Homes.

“Cambridge Park is everything it’s advertised to be. It is a very elegant and exclusive community ideally located in the heart of everything the Naples lifestyle has to offer,” she said. “As for London Bay Homes, there are not enough positives to describe my experience working with the team. The advice I would give people who are building with London Bay Homes is to enjoy the experience. And to feel confident that they are in the hands of group of highly dedicated, highly experienced professionals whose sole objective is to deliver to them their beautiful dream home.”
