Collier Children’s Advocacy Center receives $10,000 grant from Moorings Park Foundation to support Generations of Hope initiative

The Collier Children’s Advocacy Center (Collier CAC) has received a $10,000 grant from the Moorings Park Foundation to expand its Generations of Hope initiative, which provides specialized support to grandparents 60 and older who have become primary caregivers after their grandchildren are removed from abusive homes.

Through Generations of Hope, Collier CAC delivers trauma-informed therapy for children, provides case management and resource coordination for senior caregivers, offers education to help grandparents navigate the effects of trauma and support healthy routines, and assists with transportation so families can access critical medical, legal and therapeutic appointments. All services are provided at no cost to the families.

“This grant supports a lifeline for grandparents who step into demanding caregiving roles with little warning,” said Jackie Stephens, CEO of Collier CAC. “With this investment, we can help families regain stability and ensure grandchildren have the safe, nurturing environments they need to heal.”

The Moorings Park Foundation’s Community Grants Program supports initiatives that enhance the lives of local seniors through services that promote dignity, independence and well-being. The Foundation distributes funding exclusively through nonprofit partners rather than to individuals and prioritizes programs that would not be possible without its support.

About the Children’s Advocacy Center of Collier County

The Collier Children’s Advocacy Center is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit and the first point of care for children in Collier County when abuse is suspected. Since 1986, Collier CAC has provided forensic interviews, medical evaluations, therapy, family advocacy and parent education in one child-centered setting, reducing what could be up to six separate agency visits to a single coordinated response.

Collier CAC is the only organization in Collier County legally authorized to perform forensic medical exams for children under 12 and to deliver medical, court advocacy and therapeutic services under one roof. All services are provided free of charge, removing financial barriers so families can access support regardless of circumstance.

While the organization partners closely with the Department of Children and Families, law enforcement, the State Attorney’s Office and Collier County Public Schools, it is not a government agency. Collier CAC relies on community support to sustain and expand its work, as abuse occurs in every zip code.
