David Lawrence Centers appoints Carolyn Bongirno as leadership gifts officer

David Lawrence Centers for Behavioral Health, Collier County’s only comprehensive, not-for-profit behavioral health provider serving children, adults and families, is pleased to announce the appointment of Carolyn Bongirno as leadership gifts officer.

As a member of the advancement team, Bongirno will cultivate impactful relationships with the purpose of advancing the mission of DLC to provide accessible care to those affected by mental health and substance use challenges. Having survived stage three breast cancer, she has dedicated her career to helping those affected by debilitating diseases and has served as a philanthropic leader for over 20 years in central Ohio and Southwest Florida.

“As we continue to address the growing mental health and substance use crisis facing our community, it is critical that our advancement efforts are led by experienced, mission-driven professionals,” said Kimberly Dye, vice president of advancement at DLC. “Carolyn Bongirno brings a wealth of nonprofit leadership experience and a continued commitment to service that aligns seamlessly with our goals. Her insight and dedication will strengthen our ability to build meaningful partnerships and drive impactful support for David Lawrence Centers’ mission.”

Bongirno has worked with human services nonprofit organizations in Collier County for more than 10 years, most recently serving as development director for the Boys & Girls Club of Collier County and Susan G. Komen Southwest Florida. She holds a bachelor of arts degree in psychology from The Ohio State University and has been a James Ambassador for The Ohio State Wexner Medical Center since 2015. She has also previously served as a Komen Advocate in Science and is the founder of Skate for Hope, a not-for-profit organization raising funds for patient support services and cancer research.

“Expanding access to healthcare has been a pursuit near to my heart for many years,” said Bongirno. “I look forward to working with the rest of the advancement team to broaden support of DLC’s incredibly important mission of providing lifesaving and life-changing behavioral healthcare to all.”

For more than 55 years, DLC has been committed to ensuring behavioral health care is available to everyone in need through education, prevention, intervention and treatment.
