David Lawrence Centers awarded $25,000 grant from The League Club to support holistic wellness services for youth

David Lawrence Centers for Behavioral Health, Collier County’s only comprehensive, not-for-profit behavioral health provider serving children, adults and families, is honored to announce it has received a $25,000 grant from The League Club. This generous gift will allow DLC to provide holistic wellness services to 35 children and youth receiving care in the Children’s Crisis Stabilization Unit and Adolescent Day Program.

“Our holistic wellness services are effective at engaging youth experiencing a behavioral health crisis while reducing anxiety and disruptive behaviors. These services help our clients better understand themselves and their symptoms, manage their emotions, enhance healthy communication skills, provide tools for relapse prevention and stress management, and promote life-lasting wellness,” said Kimberly Dye, vice president of advancement at DLC. “As a longtime advocate for DLC, The League Club’s ongoing support underscores the important role our team plays in transforming countless lives for Collier County residents. This funding will allow us to reach more people with our life-changing services.”

As part of these vital services, the emotional, social and spiritual recovery needs of these adolescents are met through a blend of traditional evidence-based treatments such as individual therapy and medication with holistic wellness services. Holistic services include music and art therapy, structured fitness activities, yoga and guided meditation, and animal-assisted therapies with horses and dogs.

DLC was one of 34 local nonprofit organizations selected and awarded grants totaling $762,412 by The League Club. The amount awarded this year is an $80,000 increase over 2024. For the past 38 years, The League Club has provided over $8 million in grants to 222 nonprofit organizations in Collier and Lee counties supporting children, families, the elderly and veterans.

Funding for these grants comes from TLC’s Community Trust Fund. These monies are raised from The League Club’s annual fundraiser, NAPLES TABLES, held every spring and from the generosity of The League Club members and donors in the community.

“The 2024-25 year has been an extraordinary one for The League Club,” said Donna Lindberg, president of The League Club. “Thanks to the generosity of our members and donors, The League Club has continued to honor its Commitment to Community by raising funds and distributing these funds through grants made to carefully vetted not-for-profit agencies in Collier and Lee counties. In its 38-year history, to date The League Club has awarded over $8 million dollars to deserving grant applicants. These grants directly impact the needs of at-risk adults and children in the areas of housing, food scarcity, education, physical and mental health, and the arts. The League Club is inspired by the passion and dedication of its members and donors who make this commitment possible.”

For more than 55 years, DLC has been committed to ensuring behavioral health care is available to everyone in need through education, prevention, intervention and treatment. DLC delivers care throughout the community through six distinct centers of operation, including mental health, addiction recovery, emergency services, awareness and prevention, virtual care, and children and young adults.
