David Lawrence Centers receives grant from the Naples Woman’s Club to support access to care for children in crisis
David Lawrence Centers for Behavioral Health, Collier County’s only comprehensive, not-for-profit behavioral health provider, has been awarded a $7,885 grant from the Naples Woman’s Club (NWC) to help ensure that uninsured and underinsured children in crisis receive timely access to evidence-based lifesaving and life-changing crisis care.
DLC provides 24-hour emergency mental health and crisis stabilization services for children and teens and is committed to providing access to these vital services regardless of an individual’s or family’s ability to pay. In 2025, DLC served over 500 children and teens in the Children’s Crisis Stabilization Unit. Of those, 67% received subsidized care.
“We are incredibly grateful to the Naples Woman’s Club for their generosity and commitment to the wellness of children and families in our community,” said Kimberly Dye, vice president of advancement at David Lawrence Centers. “This funding helps ensure that children and teens facing behavioral health challenges can access the care they need, regardless of their family’s insurance status or ability to pay. With the support of partners like the Naples Woman’s Club, we can continue providing lifesaving, compassionate care to young people when they need it most.”
DLC is the only designated Baker Act Receiving Facility in Collier County for children who may be in danger of harming themselves or others. In 2025, DLC served nearly 400 children, teens and young adults who either reported suicidal ideation or experienced self-harming behavior. Care includes access to individual and family therapy, as well as supportive services, including wellness and healthy living groups and educational services, during their stay in DLC’s Children’s Crisis Stabilization Unit.
“When a child is in crisis, timely care can change the trajectory of a life," said Carolyn Kovach, first vice president of the NWC. "The Naples Woman’s Club is honored to partner with David Lawrence Centers to help ensure that uninsured and underinsured children receive critical inpatient care when they need it most. Supporting the health and well-being of our community’s youngest members is central to our mission.”
For more than 55 years, DLC has been committed to ensuring behavioral health care is available to everyone in need through education, prevention, intervention and treatment. DLC delivers care throughout the community through six distinct centers of operation, including mental health, addiction recovery, emergency services, awareness and prevention, virtual care, and children and young adults.
