Florida Association of Community Health Centers Honors Healthcare Network Board Chair Emeritus and Philanthropic Partner at Annual Conference

Haris Domond Named Board Member of the Year; Julia Van Domelen Recognized as Outstanding Philanthropist

NAPLES, Fla. (July 22, 2025) — Healthcare Network proudly celebrates two individuals whose extraordinary dedication to advancing healthcare access in Collier County was recognized by the Florida Association of Community Health Centers (FACHC) during its annual conference held this week in Orlando, Florida.

Haris Domond, former Board Chair and longtime member of Healthcare Network’s Board of Directors, received the Health Center Board Member of the Year Award for more than a decade of transformative leadership. Over his 13 years of service, including an impressive 10 years as Chair, Domond helped lead the organization through one of the most impactful periods in its history.

He championed the integration of behavioral health into primary care, helping Healthcare Network become one of the first in the region to offer truly integrated, whole-person care. He expanded access through extended clinic hours and weekend services and played a key role in the development and opening of the Nichols Community Health Center at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. He also helped launch the Community Outreach Team to bring services directly to underserved neighborhoods and led the Board through the recruitment of current CEO Jamie Ulmer in 2022.

“From his visionary approach to service expansion to his calm, steady leadership during the pandemic, Haris has left a lasting legacy on this organization and the community we serve,” said Ulmer. “We are deeply proud to see him recognized at the state level.”

Also honored at the conference was Julia Van Domelen, who received the Outstanding Partner of the Year Award in recognition of her bold, solutions-focused giving and commitment to health equity. Through the Bill and Julia Van Domelen Foundation, Julia has helped transform healthcare access for thousands of families across Collier County.

Her recent $5 million gift to Healthcare Network helped secure the future Van Domelen Community Health Center in Orangetree, a fast-growing, medically underserved region where more than 41,000 residents will soon have access to primary care, pediatrics, dental, behavioral health, and women’s health services close to home. Additionally, her $1 million investment made the Van Domelen Health Express mobile medical and dental unit a reality, bringing care directly into rural communities.

Julia’s philanthropy has also supported pediatric services at Healthcare Network’s Nichols Community Health Center, helping ensure more children in underserved neighborhoods receive high-quality, compassionate care.

“Julia’s giving is rooted in a deep understanding of community needs and a sincere commitment to solving long-standing challenges,” said Ulmer. “Her support has not only fueled essential services, but also inspired other donors to step forward. We are incredibly grateful for her partnership.”

Healthcare Network is honored to celebrate the impact of both Haris Domond and Julia Van Domelen, two individuals who have helped advance its mission of providing quality, compassionate care to everyone, regardless of income or insurance status.
