Foundation grant to restock food pantries in Collier County
Harry Chapin Food Bank has received a $51,000 grant from the Collier Community Foundation to purchase food to help restock pantries across Collier County.
Supported by the Greater Marco Island Community Fund, grant funding will help purchase fresh produce from local growers as well as canned fruits and vegetables, frozen and refrigerated meats, baked goods, pasta and sauces, dairy products, cereal and more. The Collier Community Foundation, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2025, works with donors to inspire ideas, ignite action and mobilize resources to address community needs.
Harry Chapin Food Bank relies on a Feeding Network of 175+ agency partners to help distribute food to neighbors in need. Each month, the nonprofit provides food to more than 250,000 people, including children, seniors, families and veterans. In addition to permanent food pantries, Harry Chapin Food Bank coordinates mobile pantries nearly every day at locations across Southwest Floridia in partnership with community centers, churches, government offices, civic clubs and other organizations.
In 2024, Harry Chapin Food Bank provided 12.6 million pounds of food to neighbors in Collier County who were experiencing hunger.
“Many people assume Naples is only home to affluent families, but food insecurity is prevalent across our region, including here in Collier County,” said Richard LeBer, president and CEO of Harry Chapin Food Bank. “This grant from the Collier Community Foundation is important because it funds pantries that bring food directly into the communities and neighborhoods where it’s needed the most.”
