Holocaust Museum & Cohen Education Center Receives Generous Grant from Collier Community Foundation

NAPLES, FL – The Holocaust Museum & Janet G. and Harvey D. Cohen Education Center is honored to announce the receipt of a $30,000 grant from the Collier Community Foundation. The Foundation’s generous grant will be used to fund the Museum’s Student and Teacher Education Programs. These programs serve students and teachers Grades 5-12 through university level. Last year our programs impacted over 20,500 students and their teachers through Museum Field Trips, on-campus programs, Teacher Education Workshops, PopUp Museum Displays and hosting the unique Boxcar Exhibit. The Museum’s recent expansion project added a larger classroom/meeting room space and new interactive educational displays.

About the Museum:

Founded in 2001, the Museum was inspired by a local middle school classroom project on the Holocaust. Our mission is to teach the lessons of the Holocaust to inspire action against hatred and to promote mutual respect. In addition to our Student Holocaust Education programs and Teacher Workshops, the Museum presents general public programs and special traveling exhibits. Its permanent collection includes over 1,000 unique artifacts, photographs and documents donated by local SWFL residents who are Holocaust Survivors and Liberators, their families and others. A recent expansion added new galleries and updated exhibits, a larger classroom and meeting space for community use. The Museum shares the personal stories of local SWFL Holocaust Survivors and Liberators with students and the public, as well as other stories related to the Holocaust and other genocides.
