Join STARability Foundation for the 8th annual Run, Walk & Roll 5K on Oct. 18
STARability Foundation is excited to announce its 8th annual Run, Walk and Roll 5K on Saturday, Oct. 18 at Baker Park in Naples. The event begins at 7:30 a.m., followed by exciting post-race activities such as games, food trucks and music. Tickets are $40 through Oct. 17 and $50 on race day; ages 12 and younger are free.
This inclusive, family- and dog-friendly, community-focused awareness event for all ages and abilities is essential to supporting STARability’s mission of transforming the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities throughout Southwest Florida. As the nonprofit organization’s second largest fundraiser of the year, proceeds from the 5K ensure that hundreds of STARability participants can continue learning, connecting with the community, training and securing employment opportunities, and engaging in life-enriching experiences.
The 2024 race raised over $90,000 and more than 530 supporters attended the event, making it the highest number of participants to date. As passionate supporters of STARability, Meg Hardt, who also serves on the Board of Directors, and her husband, Tyler Hardt, will return as co-chairs for the event.
“We are honored to serve another year as the co-chairs for this incredible event,” said Meg Hardt. “STARability’s Run, Walk and Roll 5K is one of our favorite community gatherings because not only does it support an amazing cause, but it’s also a great time for the entire family. We invite the community to join us for another successful year.”
The event will feature a grand marshal duo of Vicki Tracy and STAR participant Molly K.
“I am honored to be part of this wonderful event alongside Molly. I have formed a special bond with her over the years, and this event is the perfect opportunity to share what STARability’s participants can achieve with support from their community,” said Vicki.
Inspired Closets SWFL will also return as presenting sponsor of the race for the third consecutive year. Co-owners H.L. and Kerry Burkley attend the race alongside their son, Henry, who participates in STARability’s Jr. Trailblazer Academy, a life skills and vocational training program curated for high school students.
“We’re thrilled to be back as the presenting sponsor of one of STARability’s largest fundraisers of the year,” said H.L. Burkley. “STARability’s mission is extremely close to our hearts, and we are grateful for the opportunity to once again be part of this fun event to raise awareness for their lifechanging programs. We invite everyone and their furry friends to join us to support this worthy cause,” added Kerry.
