Moorings Women’s Golf Association raises $35,000 to support STARability Foundation
Another successful charity golf tournament held by the Moorings Women’s Golf Association (MWGA) of the Moorings Golf and Country Club has raised $35,000 to support STARability Foundation.
The culmination of the campaign involved a fun-filled women’s golf tournament, with a field of 58 golfers. All golfers and general club members were encouraged to make donations, participate in the raffle with more than 30 certificates to local merchants, restaurants, as well as an online auction for four local golf experiences and a special magnum of 2018 Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon.
“We are extremely appreciative of the generosity shown by our club members and thank everyone who donated to this very worthy cause. The MWGA threw yet another wonderful charity event for the community!” said Matt Tornow, general manager of the Moorings Golf and Country Club.
Following the recent tournament, a luncheon was served where STARability CEO Karen Govern was presented a check by the MWGA and gave remarks alongside member, Kim Price. Govern and Price spoke on STARability Foundation and the meaningful impact the programs make for individuals, their families and our community.
“STARability Foundation’s mission is to transform the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities through innovative programs, services and partnerships that shine light on all abilities, and we are honored to be the recipient of funding from the charity golf tournament,” said Govern. “With a focus on providing vocational training, life skills development and community engagement opportunities, we are working to ensure people with IDD are fully integrated, productive and valued members of society. Through these programs, we help participants discover their talents and strengths while also fostering a more inclusive and supportive community. This crucial work would not be possible without the support of organizations like the MWGA.”
