Onda Housing Group breaks ground on Wave at Rose community
Onda Housing Group has broken ground on Wave at Rose, an affordable housing complex at 293 Rose Avenue, Immokalee.
The fully affordable Wave at Rose community is the first Collier County project for Onda Housing Group, a Naples-based affordable housing developer committed to providing a new wave of equitable living opportunities across Southwest Florida and throughout the United States. This new community will provide 230 rental units for qualified Collier County residents. Once completed, Wave at Rose will feature a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom units, perfect for individuals, working professionals and growing families. Units will feature high-end finishes and energy efficient appliances, and the community will include amenities such as a pool, playground, clubhouse, covered outdoor seating areas and community grills, and walking paths.
Understanding the significant need for affordable housing throughout Southwest Florida, Onda Housing Group has committed that 100% of the units at Wave at Rose will be affordable for families making up to 60% of the area median income, or approximately $68,160 for a family of four, in Collier County. This 99-year commitment will ensure Collier County residents will have access to attainable housing for generations to come.
“Wave at Rose will make a meaningful difference in the lives of hundreds of Collier County residents each year, especially the Immokalee community,” said Andrews Cribbs, CEO and co-founder of Onda Housing Group. “Beyond providing attainable housing for individuals and families, below-market rents will help ease financial pressures, allowing residents to better afford essentials like groceries, healthcare and afterschool activities. As Southwest Floridians, it is especially meaningful that our first project in Collier County is in Immokalee. We understand the challenges facing our community, and by investing locally, we are not only acknowledging those challenges but actively working to address them. Attainable housing is a priority we deeply care about, and we are proud to bring this project to the community we call home.”
The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by officials from Onda Housing Group, as well as Rep. Yvette Benarroch, Florida House District 81;; Enrique Padron, Southwest Florida district director for Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart; Amy Patterson, Collier County manager; and Christie Betancourt, director of Immokalee Community Redevelopment Area.
This project was made possible through close partnerships with Collier County, Collier County Housing Finance Authority, CREA, Citi Community Capital, Kimley Horn, Studio 785 Architecture + Design and Barron Collier Companies. Onda Housing Group has overcome various market challenges to deliver a best-in-class, affordable housing option to Collier County residents.
“Wave at Rose is about more than building housing. It is about strengthening the fabric of Immokalee and creating opportunities for families to thrive,” said Cribbs. “When people can afford to live near where they work, raise their children in a stable environment and stay connected to their community, it creates a ripple effect that benefits everyone.”
