Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation awards David Lawrence Centers a $250,000 grant
David Lawrence Centers for Behavioral Health (DLC), Collier County’s only comprehensive, not-for-profit behavioral health provider, is honored to announce it has been awarded a $250,000 grant from the Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation. Funds from the grant will help DLC provide behavioral health care, support and education to children and families throughout the community.
“This generous funding from the Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation will allow us to ensure that children and young adults with behavioral health challenges have access to programs and services to improve their wellbeing and quality of life at home, school, and in the community,” said Kimberly Dye, vice president of advancement at DLC. “Youth, caregivers, parents and families will all benefit from this incredible gift. Children and teens will learn to develop skills such as healthy coping, self-awareness, communication and conflict resolution techniques to help them in their interpersonal relationships and to build resilience. Parents and other supporting adults will receive valuable tools and resources, and gain skills needed to navigate challenging situations, support their loved one and help them thrive.”
Funding will support DLC’s crucial initiatives, including:
- The community-based Wraparound Collier (WRAP) program, which serves high-risk children and young adults ages 3 to 18 who are experiencing mental health challenges that are impacting their ability to participate in school, home and community activities. Depending on an individual’s needs, services may include clinical assessment, treatment planning, individual and family therapy, case management, psychiatric services including medication management, crisis support, discharge and aftercare planning, and other therapies to promote wellness.
- Expanding support and educational services to families and caregivers of children and youth struggling with behavioral health challenges, including support groups, communications and outreach activities.
- Prevention and education programming for children and teens, parents and caregivers, and the wider community on a variety of topics related to mental health and wellness and on substance use prevention, such as common mental health concerns and warning signs, building resilience, coping skills, healthy conflict resolution and stress management.
“David Lawrence Centers has a long track record of providing leadership and partnership in Collier County to support the resilience of families and youth,” says Mary Beth Geier, Florida Director of the Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation. “Our foundation is honored to align with a standard of excellence that DLC provides with the goal of strengthening our Collier County community.”
