Romanza Interior Design elevates a Grandview Residence with elegant glamorous design
Mark and Cindy Anastasoff wanted their new waterfront condo on Estero Island to feel like the escape it is, one that enhances those pinch-me-moments of a home nestled between the Gulf and Estero Bay with breathtaking sunrises and sunsets. As an inviting home-away-from-home retreat for their frequent excursions from Maine, they also wanted their new place to be welcoming to visiting family and friends.
When the couple enlisted Romanza Interior Design to fulfill their vision, their wish list wasn’t too extensive. An office was a necessity for Mark who works remotely while vacationing in Florida. They also wanted a bar, a showstopping powder room and a clever way to hide audio-visual equipment in the great room. Mostly, Mark and Cindy needed a trusted partner to guide them through furnishing their residence from top to bottom. Touches of eye-catching pizzazz evolved during the collaboration, surprising Romanza’s Melissa Allen as she delved deeper into the couple’s preferences and lifestyle.
“Considering Mark and Cindy purchased a condo on Fort Myers Beach overlooking the water, I assumed we would have some coastal elements,” said Allen, senior interior designer for Romanza. “I asked them to share inspiration photos and saw the opportunity to add a bit of style with glitz, glamour and charm while providing a lifestyle suitable for effortless everyday living, ease of maintenance and coziness. It’s glamorous yet elegant.”
Together they devised unique ways to embellish the home’s existing backgrounds, creating the dry bar off the foyer and a jeweled powder room. Metallic finishes and linen textures play off a palette of ivory, taupe, champagne, emerald and jade. Allen also interspersed shimmering hints of mirror and pearlescence along with lighting fixtures jeweled in gilded gold, swirled glass, gems, crystal and glacier glass.
“Being that the structured selections were neutral, we had to be creative with ways to enhance the space with Mark and Cindy’s desired color scheme,” Allen explained. “The style is sophisticated glam, a good balance between extravagant and elegance. We achieved this look by sprinkling in glam finishes with good equipoise that doesn’t overtake the serenity. The furniture has an interesting mix of materials such as champagne, golds, burnished silver leaf and travertine.”
Perfectly situated on the fifth floor of Grandview, the opulence is introduced in the private elevator lobby “providing a taste of what’s to come.” The golden glitter of an ivory valance glimmers with natural sunlight above the dining room’s large window. Radiant bedding in the master suite glows with sparkling sequined pillows, champagne embroidery and rich textures. Romanza also created a focal point in the kitchen with an elevated backsplash – a wish list item – featuring a grout-less mosaic of white and taupe marble mixed with a crest and chevron pattern in complementing neutrals.
Romanza concealed necessary AV equipment in the great room by placing the subwoofer in a wall while a modified media credenza with a burnished pewter linen finish, champagne trim and textured cast-metal hardware becomes a focal point. The den proved the ideal spot for Mark’s workspace.
“We transformed the den with a custom built-in designed for a clean environment for work as well as a seating area for television watching, and personalized it with photography of U2, his favorite rock band,” said Allen. “An oversized black metal framed barn door with clear-light glass functions as art while adding privacy from sound travel and letting natural daylight through to the hallway.”
The screened terrace provides a respite for relaxing, enjoying the panoramic views and watching the evening’s sunset. It’s furnished with a modern white concrete dining table, wrought aluminum chairs with a natural teak finish and lanyard cording, and swivel lounge chairs.
“Romanza created multi-functional spaces designed for everyday use with features such as a custom desk, cabinets, built-ins, comfortable furniture, a custom half-bath with updated fixtures and vanities plus a convenient dry bar,” said Cindy, who was impressed by the design firm’s flexibility to work around their busy schedules by supplementing in-person meetings and on-site visits with video conferencing.
For Mark and Cindy, working with Romanza was a thorough and enjoyable process, resulting in a home that’s uniquely theirs.
“Romanza truly listened to our feelings and presented valuable options and solutions,” said Cindy. “They completely furnished our residence from top to bottom, so we didn’t have to worry about anything. The team was excellent, easygoing and caring, going above and beyond to make sure we were happy, and everything was done right. They made sure everything worked, choose accessories and provided helpful recommendations to fulfill our vision.”
