STARability Foundation named beneficiary of Inspired Closets’ “Closets for a Cause” initiative

Inspired Closets SWFL is turning beautifully organized spaces into life-changing impact with the launch of “Closets for a Cause,” a new community initiative benefiting STARability Foundation and its future Golisano Program Center.

Rooted in purpose and community, Inspired Closets will donate 5% of all proceeds to support STARabilty Foundation’s future Golisano Program Center. Currently under construction, this groundbreaking project will be Southwest Florida’s first-of-its-kind campus dedicated to individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities. The transformational campus will expand STARability’s ability to provide innovative, community-based programs focused on vocational training, life skills development, continuing education and social engagement.

“At Inspired Closets, we believe organization can do more than transform a home; it can transform lives,” said H.L. and Kerry Burkley, co-owners of Inspired Closets SWFL. “That’s why we’re proud to introduce Closets for a Cause. We invite our clients to become part of something bigger. Together, we’re transforming spaces and making a lasting difference.”

Inspired Closets has been a longtime champion of STARability’s mission. The company serves as a key supporter and returning presenting sponsor of the annual Run, Walk & Roll 5K and has consistently supported the organization’s annual STAR Gala. Through their leadership and generosity, the Burkley family have helped raise critical funds and awareness to ensure people with autism and developmental disabilities have access to transformative programs and opportunities.

The Burkleys’ connection to STARability is deeply personal. Their son, Henry, is an active STARability participant in the Jr. Trailblazer Academy, a life skills and vocational training program curated for high school students. In 2025, Henry took the stage at the STAR Gala to share how STARability has helped him build confidence, independence and lasting friendships, inspiring hundreds of supporters and reinforcing the profound impact of the organization’s mission.

“HL and Kerry embody what it means to lead with heart,” said Karen Govern, CEO of STARability Foundation. “Their unwavering commitment, not only as sponsors and advocates but as proud STARability parents, continues to elevate our mission. Closets for a Cause is another incredible example of how businesses can align purpose with impact. Because of partners like Inspired Closets, we are one step closer to bringing the Golisano Program Center to life and expanding opportunities for our STARs to learn, grow and thrive.”

The Golisano Program Center will provide a permanent, purpose-built home for STARability’s expanding programs and services, ensuring individuals of all abilities have access to meaningful pathways toward independence, employment and community connection for generations to come. Through Closets for a Cause, clients of Inspired Closets are not only investing in thoughtfully designed, customized storage solutions, they are directly contributing to a more inclusive Southwest Florida community.
