STARability partners with Macy’s to host one-of-a-kind inclusive Summer Fashion Show
More than 120 guests recently gathered for an exciting Summer Fashion Show at Macy’s Coastland Center in Naples to support STARability Foundation’s life-transforming programs for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Hosted in partnership with Macy’s, the stylish celebration showcased inclusive fashion, fun and community spirit, raising $1,200 in raffle prizes to benefit STARability.
Guests enjoyed a one-of-a-kind, inclusive runway show starring STARability’s participants as runway models. Other activities included a summer wardrobe masterclass featuring Macy’s stylists, a skincare masterclass with beauty experts and an interactive photobooth. Curated artisan gifts from the STAR Studio were available for purchase.
During the event, STARability presented a STAR Award to Macy’s in recognition of their outstanding support, inclusive employment opportunities and dedication to empowering individuals of all abilities. Macy’s recently launched a partnership with STARability to provide vocational training for its Trailblazer Academy as well as career services to offer a professional dress workshop. Macy’s has also hired a STARability participant to work part-time at the store in Naples.
“We are extremely grateful to Macy’s for their incredible partnership and ongoing commitment to inclusivity,” said Madison Nehls, chief program officer at STARability Foundation. “Not only did they help make this fashion show possible, but they continue to support our Trailblazer Academy by providing vocational training opportunities and serve as an inclusive employer who hired one of our STARs this past year. This event is a true reflection of what inclusion looks like, creating opportunity, building community and inspiring acceptance.”
