When a couple sought out Romanza Interior Design about updating their 6,600-square-foot home in Old Naples, their vision was clear: timeless style tailored to their lifestyle. “This home is an architectural gem, very unique,” said Melissa Allen, senior interior designer for Romanza Interior Design. “Our clients fell in love with the architecture and wanted to enhance the interiors to meet their desires and personality as well as update the home’s technology, including a new lighting control system and motorized window treatments. They were not worried about the latest trends and stayed true to their own preferences for timeless, traditional elegance.”

Romanza’s award-winning team blended timeless elegance with the home’s original charm, preserving unique features like glazed terracotta flooring, brickwork walls and colorful tile accents on the staircase. Furniture and finishes were carefully chosen to enhance the home’s warm, inviting aesthetic. Rich woods, sophisticated fabrics and handcrafted details add layers of luxury without sacrificing comfort. Beamed and hammerbeam ceilings and sun-filled galleries of curved arches were also retained; the pool bathroom was the only room left untouched.

“This home has an incredibly unique style,” said Allen. “We created classic and elegant design using fine furniture in concentrated finishes, very rich and sophisticated fabrics detailed with fringing, cords and distinctive trims. There’s a mix of oak, walnut and iron as well as painted pieces.”

Romanza collaborated with London Bay Renovation to expand a bedroom and bath into a serene second master and partnered with the homeowners’ Chicago-based cabinetry designer for the kitchen’s complete remodel.

“The clients have Christopher Peacock cabinetry in their current home and wanted the same hand-crafted classic British look in their new home. Christopher Peacock is recognized as the ultimate in luxury cabinetry,” Allen explained. “Our clients hand-selected the countertop and backsplash slabs in Chicago as well as the custom hood.”

An existing brick-clad bar next to the kitchen provided the starting point for the couple’s requested entertainment area. “The dining table was moved to the nook off the family room which gave ample space for the pool table,” said Allen. “We also found space to create a custom cue holder from Christopher Peacock.”

Each room reflects the client’s personal tastes and lifestyle. In his study – as a must-have request – Romanza extended existing brickwork to the sitting area, where two large windows provide natural sunlight. “We helped our clients work with Christopher Peacock to create a built-in with a desk,” Allen said. “We thoughtfully selected new wood floors in a color that matches their chocolate brown Labradors.”

Romanza collaborated with the renovation team to transform an existing ground-floor bedroom and bath into a serene second master room space. “This was a smaller guest bedroom and bathroom. To make this a special owner’s suite for her, we expanded the room to include a seating area and changed the bathroom entrance to allow for an additional wardrobe and an expanded luxury bath,” Allen explained.

Elevated outdoor living areas also realize the clients’ expectations. Coastal blues and terracotta provide visual transition from the family room to the lanai, where Romanza redesigned the ceiling to accommodate motorized screens and hurricane shutters. “It’s now a shaped coffered ceiling with an espresso-finished Hardie Boys surface and cove lighting,” said Allen. “We reconfigured the appliances and stainless-steel cabinetry to improve functionality for our clients’ needs and also customized the countertops, backsplash and hood to meet their tastes.”

Allen explained that the personalized touches in the home even extend to conveniences for the couple’s beloved pets. “We added a dog shower in the laundry room, a dedicated space for large kennels and dog supplies along with a functional space for sorting laundry,” she said.
