Warrior Homes of Collier receives $55K in pair of donations from Woman’s Club of Naples, Collier Community Foundation

Warrior Homes of Collier, a local nonprofit dedicated to eradicating veteran homelessness in Collier County, has received a pair of donations totaling $55,000 from the Woman’s Club of Naples and the Collier Community Foundation.

The $25,000 donation from the Woman’s Club of Naples will help provide additional mental health support to veterans living in Alpha House, a short-term, transitional home for those in recovery from substance use disorders, said Dale Mullin, a Vietnam War veteran and the organization’s founder and president.

The $30,000 from the Collier Community Foundation will help pay off the mortgage on Delta House, a supportive housing complex with 10 apartments for up to 20 veterans, both men and women.

Warrior Homes of Collier operates four residences for local veterans: Bravo and Charlie Houses serve seniors on fixed incomes who receive rent subsidies known as supportive housing.

Two additional residences – Echo and Fox Trot Houses – will open in January as part of a lease agreement with Collier County of county-owned rental properties in East Naples.

“Fulfilling our mission of not leaving a single Collier County veteran in need behind wouldn’t be possible without the generous support of local donors,” Mullin said. “The men and women of our community who served their country with bravery and honor are deeply appreciative of this sustained commitment.”

Beyond providing a roof over their heads, Warrior Homes of Collier also connects veterans with support services such as mental health counseling and peer support through David Lawrence Centers, as well as educational opportunities, including college scholarships.

The Collier Community Foundation awards annual grants through a competitive application and review process. Selected organizations receive grant dollars from the Community Impact Fund, which is made up of donors who believe in the Foundation’s ability to identify and grant the community’s most current needs.

The Naples Woman’s Club is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to making our community a better place for all by providing service, philanthropy and opportunities for education. The Naples Woman’s Club hosts a number of educational and charitable events, promoting friendship among women in addition to its philanthropic and volunteer programs.
